Sunday 7th September 2025: Start making plans for your entries for the Annual Show!  As well as garden produce (Vegetables, Fruit and Flowers), there are many categories for Baking, Flower Arranging, Art and Crafts.

 This is a fun show, and everyone is welcome to enter even if you don’t live in Eversley or Bramshill.

If you haven’t entered before why not give it a try this year.

Trophies are awarded for best entry in a section and for most points gained in a section (1st place = 3 pts, 2nd place 2 pts, 3rd place 1pt).

Please encourage your children and grandchildren to enter; there are classes especially for them and they can, of course, compete in the main show as well.

On the day, entries should be displayed in the hall between 9.15am and 11.15am.  Judging will start at 11.30am and the shows opens to everyone at 2.00pm. We look forward to seeing you there!

Class 48 Sticky Gingerbread – recipe

75g unsalted butter                                                           

75g light soft brown sugar                                                

100g golden syrup                                                              

100g black treacle                                                              

150g plain flour                                                                   

1 tsp ground ginger

0.5 tsp ground cinnamon

0.5 tsp mixed spice

1 large egg, beaten

75ml milk

0.5 tsp bicarbonate of soda

100g stem ginger in syrup (drained weight), finely chopped

 

Fan Oven 170C / gas 3     Grease and line 2lb (900g) loaf tin. 

Melt the butter, sugar, golden syrup and treacle in saucepan over low heat stirring until mixed well; leave to cool.  

Sift the flour and spices into a mixing bowl. 

Add butter/syrup mix, egg and milk; beat mixture until smooth. 

Dissolve the bicarbonate of soda in 1 tbsp hot water and add to the mix.  

Add the chopped ginger, mix well.  

Pour the batter into the loaf tin.  

Bake for 45-55 mins or until firm to touch and skewer pushed into centre comes out cleanly.  

Cool for 10 mins before turning out of tin.  

Best left for 2-3 days before cutting/eating.
