Footpath Number 21

Start: New Road, Chequers Lane
End: Marsh Lane
Distance: 0.1 Miles
Map: 2 –Central

This very short footpath takes you across the field from Chequers Lane across to the middle of Marsh Lane. Judging by how busy Marsh Lane is and the lack of footpaths along it, one can only imagine it may once have connected to other paths on the Yateley side of the parish boundary, but now it is likely to be lightly used by walkers.

Walking up Chequers Lane, past the Hollybush Lane turning, at the sharp right hand bend on your left, just at the 30 MPH you will see New Road and the sign for the footpath.

Walk down this road with houses either side until you come to the end of the road, and you’ll see the familiar yellow footpath sign on an old stump, and beyond it a metal gate.

Walking through the gate, you’ll be faced with a path that can become quite overgrown, fenced on both sides as you walk across the field. The path itself is lined with trees until you reach the rear garden of Meadowbrook house.

A few yards further on the path reaches Marsh Lane and on your right you’ll see the footpath sign, just emerging from the undergrowth, pointing back along the way you’ve come. Given the speed of traffic that comes down Marsh Lane, I would suggest you follow its advice and return safely to the village.
