Footpath Number 4
The Street, Eversley to New Mill Road
Distance 0.9 Miles
This short walk is quite well hidden but is well worth a stroll. It can be quite muddy underfoot at various places so be sure to take your wellingtons or good walking boots.
A short distance down the road from the White Hart public House there is an official Listed building “Bonneys Yard” which at the time of writing hosts a fascinating antique shop, Fabian Chic. Just to the right of this building a footpath sign points toward a wooden picket gate. Walk through the gate and follow the track which is bounded by a tall a wall on side and a hedge on the other. The path continues with a delightful stream on the right and wide fields on the left that are fenced off. A number of stiles punctuate this short walk and you will find yourself crossing a gated road that leads to Horns Farm from Finchampstead. These electric gates are usually shut leading you to follow the stream to where it joins the River Blackwater. Whilst walking on this path you get a very different perspective of the area of Lower Common and New Mill and in spring and summer the walk is full of wildflowers
Eventually you reach a final stile that takes you into the road above the Ford at the New Mill, which is also the county boundary of Hampshire and Berkshire.
