Footpath Number 2
Start: Bramshill Road
End: Cudbury Clump (Parish Boundary) & junction with footpath 11
Distance: ½ Mile
This short path takes you into Heath Warren forests and the many paths of this lovely local feature. Starting at the car park of the Bramshill Road mentioned at the end of FP 1, cross the road (take care of fast-moving traffic).
Navigate the barriers for the road to the gasworks and head straight up a well gravelled path, keep right up the path, ignoring the turning left (which is the start of FP 8). The path again follows the line of pylons (on your right) and woodlands to your left and climbs slightly.
After ½ mile on your left, you will see a fork to the left of the path. Whilst the main path appears to head on, this fork is the end of Footpath 2. You will see an electricity pylon about 50 yards ahead. A Bronze Age burial mound (Cudbury Clump) on your right. The slightly muddier path on the left is the start of the “Welsh Drive” (FP 11).
